Married in Marion

Marion has been such a wonderful city for Kaufman Kramer. Our second wedding ever took place in Marion and it's always nice to come back to a city we've grown to love. In such a small town, everyone seems to know everyone, and that by far has been the best publicity for us. I think the thing I enjoy the most is the challenge to create something new for each client in the same town. Nicole and Brian heard about us through the Marion grapevine and they already had a great idea of the kind of photography we produce.

Wedding day was actually the third shoot they've had with us, and there are even plans to do one more session soon! (pics to follow of course...)

I think that as a creative professional, we seek out clients that understand what photography means to us. It's so much more than just... sign here, we'll show up then. It's about getting to know people, building rapport, and just having fun doing what you love to do.

We really had a great time shooting with Nicole and Brian, and judging from the already numerous Facebook comments, I'm confident that their photos will be treasured for many years to come. Congratulations you two!!!

35,000 Shots + Tilt Shift Lens = AWESOME

As I was perusing the internet the other day I found this really awesome video by a VFX artist named Sam O'Hare. The video that he produced was simply amazing. It's a time-lapse video using a Nikon D3 with a tilt-shift lens. The effect that he achieved makes the video look like a city of "miniatures". It's not quite the same as shooting straight video with the D3, but the time-lapse turned out great and achieved a unique look.

Two People… Who Fell in Love.

I had been looking forward to shooting with Lauren and Dustin for quite some time. We had an absolutely perfect day to shoot outside. Being in Ohio, it's really anyone's guess as to whether mother nature will cooperate.

Any time I can get by the water it just triggers inspiration. The surf, the warm sun, the cool breeze... it all makes for some epic photography. It just feels good.

Lauren picked out some great outfits to bring along which gave us an opportunity to really push what we could get out of their engagement session. When they stepped in front of the lens, I just knew. Their love for each other came through with every shot. I couldn't ask for anything more... the day was perfect.

Hot Summer Sun

I love shooting at the beach, and luckily, we've had quite a few couples this year that were excited to make the drive up to one of the most beautiful areas in Ohio. This summer has provided us with some amazing weather and gorgeous sunsets. Ashley and Jimmy first approached us during the winter months about their wedding plans. I knew from the first time I sat down with Ashley that this was going to an opportunity to shoot something really special. Jimmy had experience with wake-boarding from an early age, so doing a shoot up at the lake was naturally perfect for him. Ashley is simply radiant, and her personality comes across in every photo.

I wanted to share some of my favorite pics from their shoot, and I think you'll agree, they look great together!

Sarah and Michael’s Wedding

Steve and I had a great time shooting Sarah and Michael's wedding a couple weekends ago. The sun was shining, and everyone was in great spirits! Sarah and Michael got married at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Columbus, Ohio. Shortly after, their reception was held at the Ohio State Bar Association which was very close by.

The day went very smoothly, and everyone enjoyed the down-time before the ceremony. Everyone's nerves were calm, which made our job that much easier and allowed us to produce some beautiful photography for a lovely couple.

The night ended with several formal dances at the reception hall. Lots of guests got involved in the dancing, which proved to be a lot of fun for everyone.

Congratulations to Sarah and Mike!

For Andi and Nick…

Many of our clients ask us about the little pocket camera we often carry around with us on wedding day. If you've followed our blog for awhile, you often see a little "behind the scenes" video or two. I think it's a lot of fun to see what the bride was up to right before she walked down the aisle, or how we created some of our favorite photos. In this case, I wanted to something extra special together for Andi and Nick. Thank you both again for helping us create some amazing photography! We were (and still are) truly honored.

Andi and Nick’s Wedding

On a hot and humid 90˚ day in June (the 26th to be exact) we had the distinct pleasure of photographing Andi and Nick's wedding in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The day started with the girls at Andi and Nick's house, getting ready and drinking mimosas. Andi had some great surprises in store for her, and she soon found out that Nick had gotten her a Burberry watch and a Louis Vitton handbag!

As the morning drew to a close, Steve stuck with the girls as I ventured off to find the guys at the Hilton in downtown Columbus. I found Nick and his guys relaxing and enjoying a brand new bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label in their hotel room as they reflected on their recent trip to Las Vegas for Nick's bachelor party. Nick was pleasantly surprised when he was presented with Andi's gift, a beautiful Tag Heuer watch.

In the afternoon, all of the families and both sides of the bridal party met at the church for some last minute prep work and some pre-formal action. Soon after it was ceremony time. We really enjoyed shooting at The First Congregational Church because we had a lot of freedom of movement and were able to capture some nice angles on the couple during the ceremony.

After a few more formals, it was time to party. Andi and Nick chose the Columbus Athanaeum as their reception site, and it proved to be a very beautiful location with plenty of room for the live band, large projector screen and hoppin' dance floor.

Congratulations Andi and Nick, we had an amazing time capturing your wedding day!

Yay for sunshine! We've been having so much rain lately that some of our engagement sessions have literally been watching the weather channel down to the hour. I've been looking forward to Vanessa and Andy's shoot for quite some time. These two have been so much fun to work with. They met at Otterbein University (it's a University now (for all you Westervillians out there) and so this shoot meant so much more for the two of them.

I know how nostalgic I get when I walk around Bowling Green, and I could definitely see the excitement in their eyes walking around their alma mater. A beautiful day, with a fun and loving couple. What more could we ask for?

Michel and Aaron. A Shoot to Remember…

When I first met up with Michel and Aaron, they told me that they wanted to switch it up a bit for locations. In Mansfield Ohio, that can be a bit tricky since they aren't as many locations available as you would find in a big city. Aaron suggested the Mansfield Reformatory. I thought, oh... this is going to be one to remember!

For those of you that have never been to the Mansfield Reformatory, it's basically the old prison that they left standing after it closed in 1990. There have been many famous films shot there, most notably, The Shawshank Redemption. Scenes from Air Force One and Tango and Cash have also been shot there. So, if you're a geek like me, the idea of shooting an engagement session in a place like this is AWESOME.

We had 1 hour to go through almost the entire prison (before they closed for the night) so it was definitely a shoot and go type of day. Despite the time contraint, I think the results turned out great! Enjoy!

Tara and Josh’s Engagement Session

Brad and I had a great time shooting Tara and Josh's engagement session in Loudonville, OH several weeks ago. We shot at several of our favorite locations within Mohican State Park. The park is huge, has plenty of shade, and some amazing scenery.

One thing that was unique to this session is the time that it was shot. We shoot a lot of our sessions in the evening, but every so often we like to change it up and shoot during the middle of the day. Many photographers would say we are crazy for doing this, but I say that it gives us the opportunity to stretch our creativity and place ourselves in new and different lighting situations.

We like to change it up. We like to do things a bit differently. Hope you enjoy!
